1.
I drove, way out past the lights, way out into the outside. I drove. I drove, way out past the lines. And there I found what I had so desperately searched for. I sat beneath awning shade. Gazed out across the land. I sat. Sat and thought on this life I had made. And now I know just how long I've been wrong. Now I know that I am the one at fault.
2.
He stood by day in day out, watching them as they passed. Oblivious to everyone and everything around. He stood there and he knew what had to be done. For months he planned, fantasized, and planned some more. Their walls would be his new home. Their lives, most intimate moments his food. He would slither and feast, feast and slither. He would become the serpent and they his Adam and Eve.
3.
On days like this, one can't help but admire the sky, and before you know it this day has faded into the horizon. And night's curtain falls and I feel safe again. Once again. And not even those power lines, golden arches or neon signs can take that away from me.
